AuditionsBusch Gardens Auditions, July 22, 2008 for Performers

Busch Gardens Williamsburg will hold Auditions for Singers, Dancers, Actors, Musicians and Stage Technicians on Tuesday July 22, 2008

Auditions will be held at the Busch Gardens Training Center. Take the Route 60 Employee Entrance to Busch Gardens. Security will direct you to the Training Center.

Dancer Auditions will be held 2:00 to 3:00 pm
All other Talents 3:30 to 6:00 pm

Dancers: You will be taught a brief dance combination at the audition. If you wish to sing, come prepared.

Singers: Prepare two songs of different styles.

Actors: Have a prepared comedic, family-friendly monologue.

Musicians: Prepare one or two short pieces of music. Musician applicants will be expected to sight read at the audition.

Stage Technicians Bring a resume of related experience and any letters of recommendation that you may have. Technician applicants must be at least 18 years of age.

Performer applicants must be at least 16 years old to accept an employment contract. Applicants under 18 years old must have a parent or legal guardian with them at the time of the audition. Proof of age is required.

Hinton School of Dance is a vibrant multi-disciplinary school that has been in operation since 1998. We offer Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Hip Hop and Musical Theatre to all ability levels, with classes for very young children through to adults.

We are currently seeking a dynamic individual to join our instructional team, teaching in the Jazz, Tap, Modern and Hip Hop programs. The successful candidate will have extensive experience teaching a broad range of ability levels in these disciplines, as well as in choreography. Related dance teacher training and/or post-secondary educational experience is required. We offer a full time position with competitive wages.

Assistant Professor of Dance (Ballet)

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette Department of Performing Arts (theatre/dance) seeks an Assistant Professor of Dance (Ballet) with a commitment to undergraduate education for a growing BFA program. 9-month appointment with possibility of rehire beginning August 15, 2008. Teach courses in beginning through advanced levels of ballet technique and pointe, choreograph for departmental productions, assist in the artistic direction of student performances, participate in recruitment and other departmental activities, and maintain an active role in a healthy, highly collaborative, growth-focused department. Professionalism, collegiality, and excellent organizational and communication skills are essential. MFA and successful college-level teaching required.

Undergoing a renaissance in the arts, the Department of Performing Arts is committed to advancing learning through quality teaching, research, creative activity and active participation in academic life. The Department has a fulltime faculty of seven who serve 75 majors in a BFA degree program with concentrations in theatre/dance.

AuditionsRebecca Keyser Houck, Founder and Artistic Director of Truth dance, is looking for strong, talented, versatile dancers from diverse backgrounds for an emerging, professional contemporary dance company with captivating and emotionally impacting choreography that is cutting edge.

We believe in using a movement vocabulary that incorporates a wide range of influences, while demonstrating technique, expression, athleticism, innovative gestures and intertwined partnering to create a unique stylized choreography. Summary:

North Ballet Academy, a new classical ballet school located in the northwestern corridor of the suburban Minneapolis area, is seeking an experienced, creative, visionary, dedicated, and knowledgeable professional Artistic Director to create, implement and teach North Ballet Academy’s dance program, as it aligns with the vision, goals, and objectives of the academy. The Artistic Director will closely compliment the role of the Academy Director in order to offer the community professional and creative classical ballet instruction, training, and performance opportunities.

North Ballet Academy will be opening its doors and welcoming aspiring dancers of all ages in the autumn of 2008. North Ballet Academy will offer classical ballet instruction across the spectrum of beginning, intermediate, advanced, and adult dancers. Aimed at both the recreational dancer and the aspiring professional, the North Ballet Academy program will provide expert instruction to foster the development of the art of ballet and encourage proficiency in ballet performance and choreography. Throughout North Ballet’s tenure it will seek to expand the community’s exposure, appreciation and understanding of ballet, movement, and music.

Job Responsibilities:
* Collaboration with the Academy Director in the development of the artistic vision of North Ballet Academy
* Instruction to all ages and abilities ~ 20-25 hours per week, with additional teaching and choreography hours based upon class demand as the Academy grows
* Facilitation and choreographing of annual dance productions and other dance performances
* Creation of a high quality, classical ballet program in collaboration with the Academy Director that will include:
o Educational and developmentally appropriate curriculum
o Education of families about the art of ballet
o Raising understanding and interest in the art of ballet within the community
o Character building and etiquette into curriculum
o Assessment of student progress
o Goals and strategies for program development
o Ongoing leadership in staff training program- initial and ongoing

Qualifications:
* Extensive experience in classical ballet instruction, choreography, and performance
* Vision and style that parallel with the goals and objectives of the North Ballet Academy
* Strong interest and willingness to participate in dance curriculum development
* Dance degree and/or professional dance company experience- prefer classical ballet emphasis

Casting Dance Artists of Color for Off-Broadway Production at National Black Theatre

AuditionsLooking for NON-EQUITY Male and Female actors of color versed in african and contemporary movement for performances of Yoruba Dance Drama "Orunmila" (Father of Divination) at National Black Theatre. Directed & choreographed by award-winning artist Baraka de Soleil, the show opens mid July 2008 thurs- sun., and will run for 4 weeks. Rehearsal begins June 9th - evenings Mon - Fri & possibly some saturdays 10am - 1pm. Must be able to commit to rehearsal schedule. There is pay for both rehearsals and performances.
